Kleiner Saal
acoustic tour

What lies behind, beneath, beside, and between the visible spaces of the Kunsthalle Bern? The site-specific audio guide Kleiner Saal leads visitors through the building and draws their attention to the institution’s hidden structures, stories, and traces.

Drawing on conversations with staff, audio recordings, archival material, historical references, theoretical connections, speculative elements, and open-ended questions, this audio piece offers a new way to experience the Kunsthalle from an unfamiliar perspective.

The audio piece was created as part of an art education project by Mascha Jo Kiener and Tim Heiniger in the Master’s program in Art Education at the HKB, in collaboration with the Kunsthalle Bern. The project was supported by Ursina Leutenegger, Roland Roos, and Julia Jost.
The voiceover is provided by actress Anna Sarah Waterstradt.

The audio guide can only be used on-site at the Kunsthalle Bern and is available in German only. A smartphone with internet access and headphones are required.

The QR code for the audio guide is located in the coatroom inside the unnumbered locker. If you’d like a cushion to sit on, please ask for one at the front desk.
