Following the shortlist intervention See Through The Fog during Art Basel, the inaugural edition of the un—realized Art Prize is entering its final phase. With more than 268 submissions, the prize, initiated by Stiftung Bilas, has generated remarkable interest already in its first edition. At its core are artistic concepts, sketches, and projects that have remained unrealized to date or have deliberately resisted realization.

The jury made its selection in March of this year: one of the five shortlisted projects was awarded the Realization Prize and brought to life through a realization grant of CHF 20,000. The four remaining shortlisted projects each received CHF 3,000 in recognition of their idea.

Now the moment has arrived: on 27 August 2026 at Kunsthalle Bern, it will be announced publicly for the first time which project has been awarded the Realization Prize. At the same time, we will present the awarded project in its realized form for the very first time.
